The Sex Geckos - Pacing (Full EP) 'Pacing' is an EP by Canadian rock band The Sex Geckos, released in 2024 and mastered by the legend John McBain from the 90s doom/sludge gods Monster Magnet. Produced and featuring a member of Shooting Guns from Riding Easy Records. The sound is in the style of Jesus Lizard or Slint, with female vocals, hints of Godspeed You, Can, Portishead, My Bloody Valentine, Bowery Electric, etc. Heavy doses of noise, drone, groove, minimalism, and chaos. Classifying themselves as guitar-pop, the duo comprised of Jake Johnson and Owen Bailey, are experimenting with how to ‘be a 2-piece shoegaze band while still destroying shit.’ They have catchy guitar riffs paired with explosive drums, which impressively interlock during their music, making them quite the power duo.
The Sex Geckos make songs you should know, but don't. They make music in the genres of gutter pop, slaughter-surf & psycho psych, none of which are real genres. They play manic, noisy, & fuzzy tunes. They're the party that you would call the cops on, but they're playing the Velvets, Sonic Youth, and Television, so you let it slide. The Sex Geckos are aliens.. but they don't come in peace.
