7.2 Pulse Shaping and Nyquist Criteria for Zero ISI

In this video, we present the need for pulse shaping. We explain the Inter symbol Interference (ISI) problem and the associated Nyquist criteria for zero ISI. Criteria is presented in both time and frequency domains. The sinc function is first suggested with its pros and cons. The, the raised cosine family of curves is presented. The concept of excess bandwidth and roll-off factors are discussed. The lecture ends with some examples.
