   • ⚡IOT based Smart Energy Meter with Theft A...

**Description**

This project monitors electric meter readings to detect theft and ensure accurate billing. It uses two meters, each controlling bulbs and Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) to track power usage. Readings are displayed on an LCD and trigger an alert with a buzzer and GSM notifications to the consumer. Data is uploaded in real-time to ThingSpeak via an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module for visualization. Continuous monitoring helps detect anomalies and prevent theft.

**Objectives**
To confirm normal usage patterns and prevent incorrect billing due to tampering.
To continuously analyze meter readings to detect Theft.
To continuously track and display the power consumption readings from two electric meters

**Components required**
Arduino (Microcontroller)
Energy meter (X2)
ESP8266-01 (Wi-Fi)
Buzzer
LCD 16X2
Connecting wires
Block diagram

**Methodology**
This project is designed to monitor electric meter readings and detect potential theft through a series of integrated components. Initially, two electric meters are set up with the first meter input is connected directly to the AC supply and the second meter receiving its input from the first. Each meter has bulb into their output and has Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) mounted on blinking light to detect power usage. When a bulb is turned on, the corresponding meter's reading increases, and these readings are displayed on an LCD screen. The system continuously compares the readings of both meters; if a mismatch is detected, indicating possible theft, an alert is triggered. This alert includes sounding a buzzer and sending continuous notifications via a GSM module to the consumer's phone. In normal usage, with both bulbs turned on, the readings from both meters should increase in sync, reflecting their series connection and confirming accurate usage. Additionally, the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module uploads real-time data to the Thing Speak server, allowing for graphical visualization of the meter readings. More features related to IOT can be added.
