First Boat Goes Through NEW Alt Channel | Key Bridge Collapse
This is the first vessel to pass through a temporary alternate channel
created by the Key Bridge Response Unified Command, near the Francis Scott Key Bridge incident, in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 1, 2024. The Crystal Coast is the first vessel to use the channel since the bridge collapsed into the federal waterway on March 26th. The tugboat Crystal Coast pushed a fuel barge through the temporary alternate channel.
You can see the fallen remains of the continuous truss section of the Key bridge along with the Dali container ship in the background. This new alternate route is meant mainly for tugboats and barges since it is only 11 feet deep.
