In my recent live stream, for the Mini Paint Challenge, I got talking about using free/paid reference photos for painting.

I touched on how you can jazz up a reference photo to be more unique so you're not just copying exactly from an image and the vision the photographer had.

Sometimes it's not always feasible to get the photos we want with our own camera so I totally understand. I use free or paid photos all the time for my own projects.

Like maybe we have a vision and don't own the object. Sure we could buy it but as a minimalist myself that seems very wasteful if we only need it to take a photo.

Here's how to join the Mini Paint Challenge if you want to paint these cute cherries with me. ⤵️

⭐ Do a rough sketch of the reference photo beforehand.
⭐ Gather your art supplies. (Oil, Acrylic, Watercolour, Digital, Paint Sticks, Pencils, Markers, Embroidery…)
⭐ Join the YouTube live stream on Wednesday at 10am PST or paint on your own time.
⭐ Post your painting on Instagram or Facebook
⭐ Use the hashtag #minipaintchallenge
⭐ Tag me @meganjosolart so I can show your art some love!

If you miss the live stream don't worry! I'll be posting the replay on my YouTube channel. You can come back to it whenever you have time.

I look forward to seeing you there. ❤️
