TikTok allows you to save videos as drafts so you can return to them later for editing or to continue recording. If you've started a video but haven't finished it, you can reopen the draft, add new clips, and finalize your edits before posting. This is especially useful for creators who want to work on their content in multiple sessions or gather footage over time.

To continue recording a draft video on TikTok, begin by launching the TikTok app and logging into your account. Tap on the profile icon in the bottom right corner to access your personal page. From there, you’ll see a section labeled ‘Drafts’—tap it to view all saved draft videos on your device.

Select the specific draft you want to continue editing. After the draft loads, look for the back arrow or edit icon—this takes you back to the original editing screen. In some cases, you may need to tap a settings or gear icon first, followed by an arrow icon on the top left or right to enter edit mode.

Once inside the editing interface, tap the plus (+) icon to add new clips. You can choose to record additional video segments directly using your camera or upload clips from your gallery. After selecting or capturing new footage, you can trim, reorder, or enhance the segments with TikTok’s built-in effects, filters, music, and text overlays.

After finalizing your edits, tap ‘Next’ to proceed to the post screen, where you can add a caption, hashtags, privacy settings, and post your video, or save it again as a draft if it’s still not ready.

Note that drafts are saved locally on your device. Deleting the TikTok app or clearing data will permanently erase them.
