How to prepare walls for wallpaper on a budget?
1. First, remove the old coverings, preferably down to the concrete.
2. Prime with a deep penetration primer and wait 24 hours.
3. Next, apply a gypsum plaster base coat (I use Volma Layer) and wait 24 hours.
4. Then, sand with a 180-grit abrasive pad, remove dust, and prime again.
5. Apply two coats of finish filler (Vitonit LR+ or Sheetrock Superfinish) to the surface. I use these. You can use any other type.
6. Sand with a 100-grit sponge or a 240-grit abrasive pad. Dust again and prime... wait 24 hours, and you're ready to hang your wallpaper!
