The stable release of DaVinci Resolve 21.0 represents a massive shift for Blackmagic Design, transforming the software into a dual-threat powerhouse for both cinema and professional photography.

The Headliner: The Photo Page
🎥Blackmagic has introduced a fully integrated, non-destructive Photo Page, positioning Resolve as a direct competitor to Adobe Lightroom.

🎥Native RAW Support: Handles files from Sony, Canon, Nikon, and Apple ProRAW at resolutions up to 32K.

🎥Tethered Shooting: Supports direct capture from Sony and Canon cameras into Resolve "Albums."

🎥Unified Grading: You can now apply the exact same Hollywood-tier color tools and LUTs to your still photos that you use for your video clips.

New AI "Intelligent" Tools
The DaVinci Neural Engine has been significantly upgraded with several breakthrough AI features:

🤖IntelliSearch: Allows you to search your media pool by typing descriptions (e.g., "man with sunglasses") rather than scrubbing through hours of footage.

🤖CineFocus: Lets you change the focus point or rack focus after the footage is shot, rescuing takes that missed the mark.

🤖Face Transformers: Includes a Face Age Transformer for digital de-aging and a Reshaper for subtle cosmetic adjustments.

🤖SlateFinder & SlateID: Automatically detects clapperboards and populates metadata (Scene/Take/Shot) instantly.

Key Editing & Audio Upgrades
Advanced Keyframing: A new 4-point Bezier easing system provides precision control over motion curves and speed ramps.

🎵Native Asset Support: Now supports Lottie animations, OGraf HTML graphics, and a global font browser with emoji support.

🎵Fairlight Folder Tracks: Audio pros can finally group, collapse, and manage hundreds of tracks into neat folders for a cleaner mixing environment.

🎵Audio-Driven Animation: Fusion animations can now be driven directly by audio waveforms from the Fairlight page.

Critical Technical Requirements
⚠️Hardware Drop: Support for Intel-based Macs has been discontinued. You now require a Mac with an Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) processor.

⚠️Memory Minimums: Due to heavy AI processing, a minimum of 16GB of RAM/VRAM is required, with 32GB of system RAM recommended for smooth performance.

⚠️Project Locking: Once a project is opened in version 21, it is permanently incompatible with version 20. Users must back up their databases before upgrading.
