100 rubles for a life: a true story of a fight with a bear in the Bodaibo taiga 🐻🌲
This isn't a campfire tale or a Hollywood movie script. It's a true story that happened to us in 1990 during a geological expedition in the Bodaibo district.
In those years, the taiga there was literally the epicenter of bear activity. The animals were aggressive, and encounters with them were frequent, but what our colleague Vladimir Anatolyevich had to endure still gives him goosebumps.
He found himself literally in the jaws of an enraged beast. His chances of survival were practically nil. But what happened next is an incredible example of human composure, colossal experience, and a miracle. Vladimir Anatolyevich not only survived, he emerged victorious from that encounter.
We have irrefutable proof that this is not a fabrication – an official award order for Vladimir Anatolyevich. The document clearly states: "For steadfastness and courage during a bear attack." The award was worth 100 rubles at the time. But can you really value a life at 100 rubles?
We witnessed those events and still remember every detail of that day. How did it really happen? How did a man manage to cheat death in the jaws of a predator?
We decided to tell this story in every detail.
