Meet Cindy Wei, plastic surgeon with The Polyclinic
"Hi, my name is Cindy Wei. I'm a plastics surgeon here at The Polyclinic.
I was inspired to go into medicine in middle school when I became near-sighted. I was so upset that I needed to wear glasses that when I got over it, I resolved to become an ophthalmologist and discover a cure that would rid the world of myopia forever. Of course, I eventually went into plastic surgery, and that's what led me into medicine.
I grew up in New Jersey, and I went to college at Rutgers University, where I studied biology, and then from there, I went to medical school at Washington University in St. Louis. After medical school, I went to University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey for my plastic surgery residency. From there, I did a fellowship in microsurgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and then a fellowship in cosmetic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.
I like to think of my relationship with my patients as a partnership. I like to spend a lot of time with my patients, get to know them, find out their goals for surgery and how the surgery will impact their life. In my practice, I see patients ranging in age from the teenage years to adulthood.
My practice focuses mostly on the breast, including things like breast augmentations, breast reductions, lifts, and breast reconstruction. I also do some general plastic surgery procedures, such as blepharoplasty, liposuction, abdominoplasty, and other reconstructive procedures.
What I love about being at the Polyclinic is that I feel like I'm in a big family when I come to work. I have six partners who I can ask for advice any hour of the day or night, and I think the care of my patients is that much better because of it.
Outside of work, I really love to travel with my husband and friends. I love seeing the world, experiencing new cultures, and trying the local food and delicacies. I also enjoy baking playing the piano, and I've really enjoyed hiking, camping, and getting out into nature here in the Northwest.
I do this work because I like to feel like I've made a difference in people's lives, and I strive to take the best care of patients that I can and, hopefully, make it an enjoyable and compassionate experience for them."
