Animal Rescue Double Seal Release
This morning our Animal Rescue Program released two more seals from our clinic, Habanero and Mulberry!
Habanero is an approximately 4-month-old male gray seal weanling. He was rescued on Block Island on April 6, 2023, due to an entanglement around his neck. After the entanglement was removed, he received antibiotics and wound care for the infected area.
Mulberry is an approximately 1-year-old female harp seal. She was rescued from Niantic, CT on March 20, 2023, due to malnourishment and dehydration. We noted on radiographs (x-rays) that she had a stomach full of shells and sand. After receiving supportive care and an individualized treatment plan, she was healthy and ready for release.
