Description: "箱庭,hakoniwa", a word used for the title of this song, often put into English "sandplay". Actually, this is a wrong translation for the word itself, as "hakoniwa" means "miniascape" or "miniature garden". "砂遊び, suna asobi" is the right word for "sandplay".This happens because when you look up a Japanese-English dictionary, usually you'd find a phrase "箱庭療法, hakoniwa ryouhou" translated in English, "sandplay therapy" there. A Japanese psychologist did this translation, as the therapy reminded him of "hakoniwa, miniature garden" commonly Japanese used to make, and he thought it would sound better than "sunaasobi, sandplay" in Japanese. After he translated it, the word "hakoniwa" became to be used as a metaphor or sign for "the heart", "the mind",or "the inner man", especially in Japanese literal works. So I guess in this song, the word "hakoniwa" is used like that.
Under below is my interpretation of this song, NOT the author's.
:Once there was a fierce dragon,and it suffered the people badly.So a woman/girl ("I" in the lyrics is supposed to be a woman/girl, as "I" use the feminine style of speech a little bit. And this song is originally sung by Miku.) sealed and restricted it in herself (by force of a magic or something? don't ask me how). And probably this is the song originally sung by the girl, about the dragon dying for its freedom inside her. In the lyric, "inside me", "in the dence forest",and "in the miniature garden " figuratively mean the same thing :her heart, her mind or her body inside.
