A batida e o visual que conquistaram praticamente todas as listas de sucesso em todo o mundo e abalaram a comunidade internacional da dança até os seus alicerces. Technotronic foi o filho inquieto do inovador produtor belga Jo Bogaert . Ele criou habilmente o agora familiar som do Technotronic em seu pequeno estúdio no sótão, a cerca de 32 quilômetros a noroeste de Bruxelas.
Em 1983-84, Jo foi tecladista da banda WhiteLight (músicas intimistas e sóbrias do estilo Velvet-Underground). Após o fim disso, ele se tornou um "faça você mesmo" solo em seu sótão em Aalst. Na época da erupção do New Beat, ele operava sob vários pseudônimos (Nux Nemo, Acts of Madmen...).
Pump Up The Jam conquistou rádios e casas noturnas e em pouco tempo o Technotronic liderou as paradas mundiais.
O primeiro rosto público da Technotronic foi um renomado modelo de lábios azuis conhecido como Felly Kilingi . Foi só no segundo single Get up! que o público descobriu Manuela Kamosi, ou Ya Kid K , pela primeira vez. Ela já havia cantado o vocal original em Pump Up The Jam e agora finalmente o mundo poderia testemunhar sua impressionante libertação de Get Up! . Após o sucesso monumental de Pump up the Jam o caminho agora estava claro e Get up! alcançou todas as expectativas. A estreia do Technotronic arrecadou mais de 3,5 milhões em vendas mundiais, a continuação arrecadou outros 1,9 milhões, prova definitiva de que o Technotronic era 'uma das maravilhas'. O som deles foi e ainda é uma força a ser reconhecida. O cenário não estava firmemente montado para o lançamento do primeiro álbum, Pump up the Jam . Logo o álbum alcançou mais de 4 milhões de vendas mundiais. No final de 1990, Pump Up The Jam alcançou a pole position na parada de singles dance da Billboard 12.

Turn It Up contou com Melissa Beckford e Einstein (que mais tarde apareceria no álbum do Eurogroove )
O último sucesso significativo nas paradas foi em 1992, quando Move That Body (com Reggie ) alcançou a posição 5 nas paradas da Billboard dos EUA. Até agora, o Technotronic vendeu mais de 13 milhões de álbuns.
