Nadia Hashimi was the second speaker of the Frank Islam Athenaeum Symposia Speaker Series Fall 2016.
Hashimi talked about her book The Pearl that Broke Its Shell, which was published in 2014.
She was raised in the US. and visited Afghanistan in 2002 for the first time. Her parents left Afghanistan in the 1970's. Surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins, the Afghan culture was an integral part of her daily life. Hashimi is a pediatrician and a gifted writer. Her latest novel is When the Moon is Low.
Nadia Hashimi gave her lecture on September 28, at Globe Hall, Montgomery College Germantown campus.
