Welcome to Day 1 of my 60-day challenge to learn the Godot game engine by actually building a game.
Instead of tutorials alone, I’m learning Godot by creating a simple farming simulator from scratch — focusing on real game systems like inventory management, player interaction, signals, and scene reuse.
In this video, I cover:
• Why I’m committing to 60 days of focused learning
• Using Godot signals vs direct method calls (and avoiding memory leaks)
• Building a reusable inventory system
• Player interaction using key presses
• Early game loop ideas (planting, harvesting, selling crops)
• Refactoring scenes to keep logic clean and reusable
• Planning future mechanics like unlockables, saving state, and animations
This project is intentionally small and imperfect — the goal is learning, iteration, and sharing the process honestly. By Day 10, I expect this to feel like a complete (but simple) game that demonstrates core game development concepts.
If you’re new to Godot, curious about game dev, or learning by building — you’re in the right place.
