The Best Heavy Weapons to Use in Destiny 2 Lightfall #shorts. There are countless debates on the best heavy weapons in the game, but few actually show why. Which is why I created my spreadsheets with damage testing to prove what is the best. Here are a few of my favorites.
At #1 and #2 I have Gjallarhorn and legendary rockets, specifically Adaptive and Aggressive frames for their higher damage profile. And weirdly enough when you look at their DPS and Total Ammo Damage, you see that they are worse than heavy Grenade Launchers, but with Gjallarhorn’s Wolfpack Rounds, they drastically change. About twice as much damage while offering some of the best DPS in the game. Which is why you see them in nearly every raid DPS.
However, when it comes to general play, I favor Heavy Machine Guns much more. Specifically Thunderlord, Xenophage, Grand Overture, and legendary 450 and 900 HMGs. The legendaries having really high total ammo damage, the exotics having much higher DPS and interesting utilities, and all of them having more total ammo damage then many other options. Making them ideal for killing everything and often having ammo left over. The main downside is that they require sustained fire, which can be dangerous.
And lastly, there are other options I recommend. Things like heavy grenade launchers and Anarchy for solo play, The Lament and Parasite for short burst damage, Two Tailed Fox with the catalyst for an alternative to Gjallarhorn, and linear fusion rifles for long range total ammo damage.
