All-female punk band, ma diciamo pure deathrock band, perchè le Castration Squad si collocano a pieno diritto tra i pioneri del filone che abbina punk e gothic.
Si formano nel 1980 e la line-up comprende diversi elementi noti per altri progetti in campo più o meno affine. Questa la formazione principale:
Shannon Wilhelm (lead vocals)
Mary Bat-Thing, poi Dinah Cancer nei 45 Grave (backing vocals);
Alice Bag dei Bags al basso;
Tracy Lea alla chitarra (anche nei Red Cross);
Tiffany Kennedy alle keyboards (Cambridge Apostles);
Elissa Bello alla batteria (Go-Go's).
Per un breve periodo ha suonato nella band anche Phranc, già nota per i trascorsi coi Nervous Gender e i Catholic Discipline.
Nessuna registrazione ufficiale; tra il materiale reperibile, qualche bootleg relativo a live risalenti al periodo 1980-'81.
Qualcuno ha anche creato una fan page su MySpace su cui sono caricati alcuni cavalli di battaglia del gruppo.

Nel 2005 ha avuto luogo una reunion "one night only"; le testimonianze dell'esibizione le potete trovare qui ( http://teamgoon.com/scene_report/9.2.... ); questo concerto ha visto alle vocals la sola Dinah Cancer perchè purtroppo Shannow Wilhelm è nel frattempo deceduta.
Su youtube sono disponibili un paio di video presi da una loro esibizione (del 1980) all'interno del programma televisivo New Wave Theatre.
