Flywheel/Battery Hybrid & Controls for Grid Stabilisation
Schwungrad Energie Ltd has built a hybrid flywheel/battery plant in Rhode Co Offaly to prove the capability of a hybrid flywheel/battery plant to provide system services to stabilise the grid. In this presentation Technical Director Frank Burke describes the hybrid plant and control system and its capabilities in providing system services. Donal Bourke, country manager for Yokogawa in Ireland and business unit manager for their Advanced Solutions business in UK and Ireland discusses the control system, supplied by Yokogawa, which is a crucial component of this plant.
