Convert Shapefile Elevation Data to GeoTIFF for Geo-Surface 🌍
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to convert elevation data from shapefile format into GeoTIFF for use in Geo-Surface. By making this conversion, you’ll be able to:
✅ Create an HD Elevation (3D terrain) layer from your own data
✅ Upload your own elevation data to the flow mapping server to generate HD Flow Mapping (available to current Geo-Surface Explorer and Designer subscribers)
What You'll Learn:
🔹 How to generate GeoTIFFs in both:
EPSG 4326 (WGS 84) – required for HD Elevation overlays
EPSG 3857 (Projected Coordinate System) – required for flow mapping uploads
🔹 How to convert elevation values from feet to metres (Geo-Surface requires all GeoTIFF elevation data to be in metres for both HD Elevation overlays and HD Flow Mapping)
By the end of this video, you'll be able to seamlessly prepare and upload your own elevation data for use in Geo-Surface. Let’s get started! 🚀
