Are you wondering how to convert a portrait video to landscape? Well, you're in luck. With Icecream Video Editor, you can quickly convert your portrait video to landscape in just a few mouse clicks.
Maybe you started shooting a video on your iPhone in portrait mode, only to realize the mistake and rotate the phone into landscape in the middle of recording.
Once you've begun shooting a video in portrait orientation, it stays locked that way throughout the whole video. Watch this step-by-step tutorial to easily change video from portrait to landscape and improve your recordings.
00:44 Step 1: Download Icecream Video Editor
First, download Icecream Video Editor from icecreamapps.com. Run the installation process and open the program.
00:57 Step 2: Set Landscape Orientation for the Project
To convert portrait video to landscape, select one of the landscape orientation options for the output video. You have two ratios to choose from, 16:9 and 4:3. Pick the one that works best for you.
01:15 Step 3: Add Portrait Video to Timeline
Now, let's get your portrait video on the timeline. Add your file into the Media Library. This area stores the videos you want to edit, making them easily accessible. Now, drag your video to the bottom. This is the timeline, it's where you edit your videos.
01:39 TIP: Split video
Here's a tip for you. If your video was recorded vertically from the beginning and then you rotated you phone to continue recording horizontally, you can split the video for easier processing. Move the marker above the timeline to the moment of your phone rotation and click the Split button.
01:57 Step 4: Enter Crop Mode
You're now ready for the next step - cropping. To enter the Crop mode, click the relevant button above the timeline.
02:08 Step 5: Convert Portrait Video to Landscape
While in Crop mode, the “Scale to fit” option along with the background blur is enabled by default. Switch to “Crop” option to proceed. Keep your chosen ratio when cropping by sticking to the "Keep project aspect ratio" option. Move the markers on the borders of the video to apply a new area. Click "Done" to save your changes.
02:36 Step 6: Export Converted Video
Finally, it's time to export your video. Click the "Export Video" button for that. A new window will pop up in which you can rename the file, select the output location, select and choose from several resolution options, including full HD and 4K and choose the quality with options from low to ultra setting. When you've chosen the best options for your project, click Export. Well done, you've changed your video from portrait to landscape.
