You’ve Never Seen a VW Beetle Like This… Ever

Ian Roussel of Full Custom Garage is building a never seen before, one-of-a-kind Volkswagen Beetle inspired by Ed Roth style hot rods and Le Mans race cars.

What happens when you take a classic Volkswagen Beetle… and push it into full Le Mans–inspired race car territory?

In today’s episode, Ian Roussel of Full Custom Garage finally fiberglasses the front end of his one-of-a-kind VW Bug build—and this is a HUGE turning point in the project. After two full days in the shop, shaping, refining, and committing to the design, the vision is officially starting to come to life.

This isn’t bolt-on. This isn’t planned out on a computer.
This is old-school custom fabrication—hands-on, trial and error, and trusting the feel of the lines.

Inspired by legendary endurance race cars like the Porsche 917, Ford GT40, and Lola prototypes, Ian is transforming this classic Volkswagen into what might just be the slowest Le Mans-style race car in the world 😅

And for the first time… you can really start to see it.

Jamie’s behind the camera capturing every step of the process, and together they’re bringing this wild idea to life from their new desert shop in Arizona.

Is this finally starting to look like a race car… or is there still more refining to go?

No sketches.
No rules.
Just imagination, experience, and fabrication.

Every panel is hand-built, every line is evolving, and you’re watching the process as it happens.

“Car building is fun… let’s keep it that way.” – Ian Roussel
