The news that Alikhan Baizakov had been arrested on suspicion of involvement in and financing an organized crime group, as well as extortion, was discussed a week ago. At the time, his sister, blogger Aizhan Baizakova, called it a hoax and threatened legal action against the media. However, today, Alikhan Baizakov confirmed his arrest and even published a video. Law enforcement officers apparently arrested him in his own apartment. The footage shows Baizakov in casual clothes, surrounded by several special forces officers and civilians.
“I want to say that I have no connection to extortion or any organized crime group whatsoever. And I want to send greetings to all the lying news portals. I wish twice as much good to everyone who wishes me harm,” Baizakov wrote.
The blogger admitted that this incident is a big lesson for him, and stressful for his loved ones. "Everything I've seen in my 24 years, you couldn't even dream of it. In any case, this is a big lesson for me and stress for my loved ones; I don't wish this on anyone. Always think before you act; they'll come to visit you immediately, and it's a very unpleasant process," he said.
Journalists obtained photographs showing Baizakov in the company of people from Arman Dzhumageldiev's criminal circle.
And in another photo, Alikhan stands next to the son of the late Kyrgyz crime boss Kamchy Kolbaev.
On August 7, Almaty police confirmed the arrest of Alikhan Baizakov.
"The citizen in question was brought to the police as a witness. After investigative actions, he was released," the Almaty Police Department press service reported.
