In this Semiquincentennial moment, as the nation reflects on 250 years, our musical journey continues—expanding beyond its origins into a global story of movement, identity, and the enduring search for belonging.

The American Migration Songbook continues with Volume II: Roots & Resonance, shifting its lens to the modern era—where migration unfolds through labor, conflict, diaspora, and the reimagining of identity across a connected world.

Presented by the Genealogy Listening Room and Lexsigi Music, this cinematic musical journey blends history, genealogy, and the theatricality of musical storytelling—brought to life through a rich character-driven visual and auditory experience. At its core, the Songbook reflects a genealogical sensibility, tracing not only the movement of people, but the records, memories, and fragments through which their lives are remembered. Rooted in real events, Volume II explores how people in the 20th and 21st Century move, adapt, and define home in an increasingly interconnected world.

Migration is not confined to the past—it is ongoing, dynamic, and deeply human.

From the building of the Panama Canal to the Great Migration, from wartime displacement to contemporary global movements, each track serves as a temporal anchor, reflecting the forces that shape how people move, adapt, and belong. The closing movements bring these stories together, revealing a shared identity formed across cultures and generations—celebrating the mosaic that emerges through time.
