The Federal Reserve's June meeting minutes drop LIVE at 7:00pm UK / 2:00pm ET tonight, and they could not land at a worse moment. President Trump declared the Iran ceasefire over this morning after US strikes on more than 80 targets, oil spiked 6%, and stocks fell hard. Now the record of Kevin Warsh's FIRST meeting as Fed Chair hits a market already worried about war, inflation and rate hikes. The setup, in plain English. In June the Fed held interest rates at 3.50 to 3.75%, its fourth straight hold, but nine of the eighteen submitted dots pencilled in at least one rate rise in 2026, with inflation above 4%. Warsh didn't submit a dot of his own, so tonight's minutes are the best guide anywhere to where the new Chair actually stands. Since then the ground has moved twice: the 2 July jobs report came in at 57,000 against 115,000 expected and slashed rate hike odds, and today the Iran war is back on with Brent crude near $78. Hawkish and stale, or hawkish and suddenly right? We read it line by line the moment it lands.
We're watching the participant counts, any explicit talk of a rate rise, and any sign Warsh wants faster balance-sheet runoff, the quantitative tightening (QT) signal most coverage misses. Plus the live reaction in the 2-year Treasury yield and the US dollar, the fastest tell for Bitcoin and gold.
The stakes: the Dow is down more than 600 points from Monday's first close above 53,000. Bitcoin fell to around $62,000, with June's 21-month low under $58,000 back in view. XRP trades near $1.10, fresh off Ripple's full MiCA licence in Europe. Gold FELL to $4,050 on the day a war escalated, and the 10-year yield sits near 4.5%.
