Being restricted on Instagram is different from being blocked, but is there a way to know for sure? In this video, I explain how you can tell if someone has restricted you.
Instagram does not send you a notification when you are restricted. You will not receive an alert, and your direct messages will still go through, but they will go to their message requests instead of their main inbox.
The clearest way to test if someone has restricted you is to leave a comment on one of their posts. Post a comment, then log out or use a secondary account (or ask a friend) to view the same post. If your comment is hidden from everyone else and only visible to you, you have likely been restricted. Restricted users' comments are automatically hidden from the public.
