This video is created by Thinknyx Technologies Team to give an overview of Modern IT Infrastructure Evolution. Till late 90's the only way to host your workload/applications was having your own/rented Data Centers. This perception was changed by VMware by introducing Modern Hypervisor Software (ESX), later on such Hypervisors were introduced by many big giants including MicroSoft (HyperV). This was very successful model and is being used till date by many enterprise organizations. This Hypervisor era was changed by "Public Cloud" after introducing a concept of "Data Centers on Rent or Pay as you go Model". Cloud introduced three primary Service Models:
IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
PaaS (Platform as a Service)
SaaS (Software as a Service)
As improvements are always expected and cost is something which can be reduced by bringing some unique concepts. This time the major change was brought in IT by a company called "Docker Inc" which helps you to use Shared Kernel with a light weight OS Image (known as Container Image). Later on more Container related software's (Kubernetes - A Container Orchestrator) were introduced which actually changed the way IT use to run earlier. Even there are more new concepts where you don't need any permanent environment. We can use the environment till the time we are running workloads i.e FaaS (Function as a Service or ServerLess). We need not to pay for any extra time where our workload is not running.
In 2020, now we are living in highly Hybrid Environment where we need Standalone servers, Hypervisors, Public Clouds, Containers and Serverless function for different workload to highly optimized our running cost.
