Revisiting Hi-Resolution Data: Case Studies and Solutions
Recent developments in traffic signal operations research and development have pushed the envelope of what data we can collect from traffic signal controllers at the street. With communications and detection systems in place, we can collect rich data sets that tell the story in detail how existing operations are managing traffic. But are investments in data-focused technology worthwhile for an agency? This presentation will detail the fundamental concepts of the hi-resolution data enumeration standards developed by Purdue University and their associated signal performance metrics, along with a variety of case studies and examples of using these data to improve traffic operations.
