What Humanode Actually Built
Victor Vernissage, co-founder of Humanode, breaks down exactly how the network works - the mechanics behind one human, one vote, and why it's harder to build than it sounds.
Most crypto projects claim decentralization. Humanode actually had to solve it from first principles. When you let anyone enter a one human one vote DAO without barriers, the first thing that happens is a university, an army battalion, or a well-funded attacker spins up thousands of nodes and drains the treasury. So the system needs gates - but gates that don't hand power back to capital.
Humanode's answer is two layered: an intellectual barrier where you prove you can set up and run a node, and a contribution barrier where you get a proposal accepted and deliver on its first milestone. Only then do you earn the right to vote.
And even then, democracy alone isn't enough. Specialized chambers protect the parts of the network that require real expertise - engineers vote on engineering, economists vote on economics. Populism can't override technical reality.
This is what real decentralized governance infrastructure looks like when you actually build it.
