“GTA 5 Runs At 4K/60FPS On PS5, Apparently. The PlayStation 5 edition of Rockstar's celebrated and enduringly popular Grand Theft Auto V will run at 4K/60FPS on Sony's next-gen console, apparently. GTA V and GTA Online are scheduled for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 11. The game originally debuted on PS3/Xbox 360 back in 2013 before it was later published on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Across all platforms, the game has sold 150 million copies, while its GTA Online multiplayer mode continues to be a big success in terms of players and revenue.

“Sony profits soar as it benefits from home entertainment boom. Profits at Sony Corporation have climbed by more than a quarter as demand for the PlayStation 5 games console, which boomed during the Covid-19 pandemic, continues to outpace supplies. The Japanese entertainment and electronics conglomerate reported a 26% rise in operating profit in the three months to the end of June to 280.1bn yen (£1.85bn) from 221.7bn yen a year earlier. Sony expects to sell 14.8m PS5s in the 12 months ending March 2022, a figure hindered by a shortage of semiconductors.

“PSVR without Parole, a well-known source for PSVR information, revealed in a new video shared today that Sony confirmed some of the PSVR 2 details in a new developer summit. During this summit, it has been confirmed that the next-gen PSVR headset will feature Fresnel OLED screens with a 2000x2040 resolution per eye, HDR display, and a 110 degrees FOV. The PSVR 2 will also use Flexible Scaling Resolution in addition to Foveated Rendering which, together with eye tracking, will let the headset scale resolution based on the player's view, and thus reduce the impact on performance. The headset will also use haptics to reduce motion sickness and improve immersion. Apparently, Sony will talk more about the headset's launch plans in early 2022.”

“PlayStation State Of Play With Surprise Reveal Rumored For August 19. According to the latest rumors, PlayStation plans to host a new State of Play on August 19, which will supposedly feature fresh details concerning known titles and a "surprise announcement" of some sort. The last State of Play broadcast aired last month on July 8, featuring closer looks at third-party titles. As a result, first-party projects such as the next God of War and Horizon: Forbidden West didn't take center stage. The likes of Arkane's Deathloop, a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive, instead received the spotlight. It's no wonder PlayStation fans are eager for another news blowout from the Japanese manufacturer, particularly one that emphasizes endeavors from internal studios. In addition to the two aforementioned titles from Santa Monica Studio and Guerrilla Games, Gran Turismo counts as the only other major Sony-owned IP that's confirmed to receive a new release in the next year and change. And, as of writing, none of these three adventures boast firm release dates. That could change in the coming weeks, however, if recent rumors prove accurate.
