The sensor has a special IR lens that receives the reflected IR beam on a special CCD array. Based on the CCD data, the reflection angle is determined, which is then used to calculate the range. The corresponding range value is fed to the analog output of the sensor, which can be read by the microcontroller. To eliminate possible interference, SHARP sensors emit an IR signal with a modulated frequency. This allows almost complete protection against interference from ambient light. In addition, the sensors show almost complete indifference to the color of the detection object (the sensor is able to detect black walls in sunlight). ====================================
