How to Open a COMSOL model in Older Versions | MATLAB Link to COMSOL

Sometimes you need to open a COMSOL Multiphysics model created in a newer version using an older COMSOL release, but COMSOL does not support backward compatibility by default.

In this tutorial, I show you a practical and reliable workflow for importing a COMSOL 6.4 model into older versions, such as COMSOL 6.3 and 6.2, using the COMSOL–MATLAB LiveLink and MATLAB (.m) model files.

📌 What You’ll Learn:
✅ Save a COMSOL model as a MATLAB (.m) file
✅ Import the model into older COMSOL versions using MATLAB.
✅ Use the mphlaunch command to open COMSOL from MATLAB.
✅ Manually fix issues related to geometry, materials, physics, boundary conditions, and studi.es
✅ Handle version-dependent errors such as frequency range, pressure amplitude, and mesh settings
✅ Understand which parts of the MATLAB code must be checked line by line when importing manually.

⚠️ Note: This approach may not work for much older COMSOL versions, and some model features must be imported manually.
