For decades, transatlantic relations have been a cornerstone of the global order, fostering peace and security. Despite its resilience, the transatlantic partnership is faced with enduring and emerging challenges. Alongside responding to Russia’s war of aggression on Ukraine, these also include navigating relations with China and the situation in the Indo-Pacific, preventing a conflagration in the Middle East, addressing the climate crisis, responsibly managing technological progress, and facilitating trade.
The upcoming U.S. presidential election will have a significant impact on how transatlantic partners will respond to these challenges in the years ahead and on the future trajectory of transatlantic relations. In particular, the outcome of the election will strongly determine how the U.S. positions itself in the world and what this means for transatlantic cooperation and the role of Europe. It is therefore crucial for Europe to prepare itself for any possible election outcome in order to ensure the strength and resilience of the transatlantic bond in the years to come.
This MSC Road to Election event, taking place on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention, aims to bring together decision-makers and experts from both sides of the Atlantic to discuss key geopolitical challenges faced by the transatlantic partners and what the upcoming U.S. election will mean for the future of transatlantic cooperation.
