If your Google Merchant Center is suspended, there's a new extra verification step rolling out that looks a lot like Google Business Profile verification: submitting a short, continuous video of your business. In this video, I explain what's changing, why approvals are harder, what I check for clients (A–Z), and how to approach verification without burning through your 3 review requests.
What you'll learn
Why Google has raised approval requirements (bad actors, low-quality stores, look-alike dropship sites).
Why no one can guarantee reinstatement, even perfect compliance only increases your chances.
The 3 review requests limit (and how exhausting them can lead to a permanent ban).
The new video verification (limited rollout/beta): exactly what Google asks you to record.
When (and when not) to ask for a review.
Video verification: shot list
Record one continuous, unedited 3–5 minute video. Do not include faces, IDs, or any sensitive data.
If you have a physical store:
Exterior entrance with street name and signage visible
Walk inside; show staff-only areas (storage room, office, POS)
Keep the camera rolling, no cuts, no edits
If you sell online and keep stock at your business location:
Building entrance with signage/street name
Show how staff access the storage area
Show 1–3 of your most expensive items: the item, its packaging, and the storage location (all in one take)
If you sell online without your own storage (e.g., many dropship models):
Be 100% truthful in the form selection; misrepresentation will be obvious in review
Still follow Google's instructions precisely for your scenario
Tip: Before recording, walk the route once, tidy sensitive areas, and cover any PII. Keep the camera steady and narrate briefly what you’re showing.
Critical advice before you click “Request Review”
Don't request a review after tiny changes. Fix everything first.
Don't let third parties submit reviews on your behalf prematurely.
Treat compliance as holistic: site trust signals, policies, product data accuracy, payments/shipping/returns clarity, structured data, and all external profiles.
Disclaimers
Google may still deny reinstatement even if you comply. Compliance increases probability; it's not a guarantee.
The video-verification flow appears to be in limited rollout/beta and may change.
