LinkedIn have introduced a new 'repost' option on posts. Before you could share someone's post if you wanted to, and now you can share with a comment OR you can simply repost the other person (or company) post.
Why would you repost?
When you repost someone's post, you are helping them to get more eyeballs on their content. The comments from your network will go onto the other person's post, and not your shared post. Think of this as a mutual support technique. How to win favour with someone in your network!
