An Incredible Story | He Saved Desperate People from Death
Australian Don Ritchie loved to look out the window of his home at the ocean.
But he didn't just admire nature.
Ritchie saved many people from jumping off cliffs.
People who had lost all hope often came to the dangerous coastal cliff where he lived.
Don Ritchie would extend a helping hand and ask in a calm voice,
"Can I help you with anything?"
Then he would invite them into his home for a cup of tea and chat.
Sometimes people would return years later to thank him for saving them.
Ritchie said he couldn't just sit and watch them. He wanted to pull people back from the edge, give them time to reflect.
Over 40 years, Don Richie saved more than 160 people, and always repeated:
Never underestimate the power of a kind word and a smile.
