From the windows of the departure gate we all see the planes outside, we see the ground crew loading and unloading the bags, we see the catering trucks deliver the inflight meals and we see the refuelers in action. But what about what you don't see from the terminal?
Aviation is one of the most complex and highly regulated industries in the world. Behind the scenes there are thousands of men and women doing incredible work to keep your planes flying. Airports Uncovered Part 2 delves further into the world of aircraft maintenance and shows you What You Don't See From The Terminal.
This Airports Uncovered video is part 2 of a three part series I filmed with the team from FEAM Aerospace at CVG Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport.
In this video we show how the team from FEAM keep CVG flying by helping to repair broken down aircraft. In the process I get to ride in the jump seat of an A330 Freighter as they take it for a spin around the airport to test the newly repaired steering.
I also find out what happens when an aircraft breaks down in some remote part of the world.
Then I head over to the passenger terminal as the team prepare a Frontier Airlines A320 for departure.
And finally I get the ultimate view of the Queen of the Sky the Boeing 747 as it comes in to land and we then follow it all the way to its stand.
