This was challenging but rewarding at the same time. I usually rig my cars inside 3DS Max but I find myself quite limited just doing straight lines or having to tweak the animation, reimporting the data everytime.
This time I decided to learn about the Chaos Vehicle plugin, and decided to rig within Unreal allowing me complete freedom in my driving, and get a better sense of speed as I can just pilot the car on the track and get all the visual quality at the same time !
I tried to match @michaelschumacher ‘s lap in 2004 (and that wasn’t the easiest..) and take the same camera angles to match it in Unreal. I could then extract the audio sound from the video and sync it with my timing in Unreal.
