The Amagá Railway was a cargo and passenger railway network in Colombia. This transportation system supplied the municipality of Medellín, connecting it to the Cauca River and the southwest of the department of Antioquia.

Full of tunnels and scary viaducts
The tunnels were designed to allow the continuation of the railway, they are located on the La Delgadita path, and there are five in total; They were built in 1923 and measure between 40 and 80 meters.
Further ahead, we had to pass the first viaduct, which was built in 1924 and was also located in Vereda La Delgadita. It is an old bridge, which highlights the train rails and the metal structure that supports it.
The Amagá Railway was of strategic importance for the railways and industry of western Colombia, as it allowed a regular supply of coal from the Amagá mines that powered a good part of the steam engines of the time. Likewise, it allowed us to reduce the operating costs of the Antioquia Railway line and minimize the ecological impact on the forests used as fuel for locomotives.
