Pirappancode Murali,Son of Shri. Sankaranarayana Kurup; born at Pirappancode on 12th June, 1943; B.A., B.Ed.; Political, Social, Literary Worked and Dramatist.

Was District Committee Member of A.I.S.F. from 1960 to 1963; became a Member of C.P.I.(M) in 1962; became a Member of C.P.I.(M) from 1964; Founder, State Committee Member of Kerala Socialist Youth Federation in 1968; was State General Secretary of K.S.Y.F. from 1974 to 1977; District Committee Member of C.P.I.(M) from 1971 onwards; President of Manikkal Panchayat from 1979 to 1984; District Council Member of Thiruvananthapuram from 1990 to 1994; District Secretariat Member of C.P.I.(M) from 1991 onwards; District President and State Working Committee Member of Kerala Karshaka Sangham from 1992 onwards.
Elected to Grandasala Sangham District Committee in 1992; became District Secretary of Kerala Grandhasala Sangham in 1972 and became a Member of State General Body; Control Board Member of Kerala Grandhasala Sangham in 1980 and 1987; elected to the Executive Committee of State Library Council in the first election held in 1994; Chief Editor of ' Grandhalokam' the illustrious monthly journal of State Library Council; State Committee Member of Purogamana Kala Sahithya Sangham; Senate Member of Kerala University from 1980 to 1984; Member of Asan Memorial Committee, Thonnakkal from 1987 to 1991; Executive Committee Member of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy; State Committee Member of I.P.T.A.

Wrote and published poems; written lyrics for more than 50 plays; the chief among the founder members of ' Sanghachethana', a dynamic drama troupe in Malayalam theatrical performances; Kerala Government Award for the best lyricist in 1998; Kerala Sahithya Academy Award for the Best Play Writer in 1989; NANA Award for Best Lyricist in 1996; author of eleven stage plays that became very popular in Malayalam theatre of 'Swapnamvithachavar', 'Shehichu Theeratha Gandharvan', ' Subhadre Sooryaputhri' are of particular mention.
