Adobe After Effects CC 2020:
The Hand Tool allows you to grab and move things in your After Effects interface
The Hand Tool really is a ‘handy’ tool to have in your After Effects workflow toolbox
The easiest way to use the Hand Tool in After Effects (and many other Adobe products) is to press the Space Bar. Your cursor will temporarily switch to the Hand Tool and when you let go of the Space Bar your cursor will return to the previous too.
The Hand Tool can be used:
Adjust the composition position on the canvas
Scroll up and down in the File Properties
Scroll up and down and side to side in Layers Panel & Timeline
The Hand Tool (3 Ways to Activate)
1. Click on the Hand Tool Icon in the top-left toolbar
2. Use the Keyboard Shortcut ‘H’ to select Hand Tool
3. Use the Keyboard Shortcut ’Spacebar’ to temporarily activate the Hand Tool (preferred method)
