Cass Scenic Railroad - Parade of Steam 2026
Experience one of the most exciting steam events of the year at the historic Cass Scenic Railroad! On June 20, 2026, many people gathered to witness the Parade of Steam, featuring multiple operating steam locomotives from the legendary Cass fleet. This year included all geared type locomotives like the Heisler, Shay, and the Climax. The event showcased the sights, sounds, and power of these historic machines as they lined up and paraded through Cass, filling the mountain air with whistle echoes, drifting steam, and the unmistakable sound of working geared locomotives.
From beautifully restored Shays to other historic locomotives, the Parade of Steam celebrated the rich logging and railroad heritage of West Virginia. Visitors enjoyed photo opportunities, locomotive run-bys, and a rare chance to see several steam engines together in operation.
