Why I turned back on Iceland’s most dangerous glacier hike
Hvannadalshnjúkur is Iceland’s highest peak, and it’s full of crevasses and the longest guided day hike in Europe. It’s a mountain where the weather changes drastically, and it suggested you go with a local guide because of the glacier’s complications. There’s a very good reason the hike failed and it’s not one you’d expect. This is the story of what happened and what’s coming for next year in Iceland.
