Here in the Black Forest the ground is very rocky. Digging fence post holes by hand takes a lot of hard work. I have a hydraulic hammer for my excavator so I had a long chisel made only for poking holes in the ground. It takes about 5 seconds to put any hole in the ground no matter what the ground conditions. After I poke all the holes and start a fence post in the ground I change tools on the hammer. I made the tool for driving the posts. It took me a lot of posts to get the feel of driving them straight. Normally I have someone watching and telling me if I am straight and if not which way to tilt the post. If I just drive the post without poking a hole first I have a 50/50 chance of shattering the wood post.
