Vatican Radio 11700 kHz on Barlow Wadley XCR-30, Tecsun PL-368, XHDATA D-219 and XHDATA D-109
A comparison between the almost 50-year old Barlow Wadley XCR-30 and three modern radios, the Tecsun PL-368, XHDATA D-219 and XHDATA D-109. This is, in effect, a shootout between the Wadley loop system and digital signal processing (DSP). Interesting results.
The signal is Vatican Radio International 11700 kHz, from Tinang in the Philippines. I am in Johannesburg, South Africa, 11000 km or 6800 miles away. Very good reception on all four radios, but there are some clear differences and, I think, one radio that clearly outshines all the others.
