The CX-80 has a quality of materials and fit-and-fit comparable to that of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. That's what Mazda says. To test it, we put together a Mazda CX-80, an Audi Q7, a BMW X5 and a Mercedes GLE and invited two blind people to touch the interior and give us their verdict. Will the Mazda CX-80 be up to par with the premium models?
The Mazda CX-80 is a five-metre SUV with up to seven seats. Its interior is spacious and we found that the third row of seats is usable by adults. For the second row, there is an option to replace the bench seat with two very comfortable seats, which we recommend installing. The boot is also large.
The CX-80 has technical solutions that are rare today, such as a newly developed 3.3-litre six-cylinder diesel engine. However, we tested the 328 hp plug-in hybrid version with a 0 Emissions label and 60 km of electric range. All CX-80s have four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
One of the Mazda CX-80's strong points is undoubtedly its price, as it is on sale for 56,544 euros, which is a low value compared to the competition.
