Syfy Channel SPOILED Carson's Return (Dial the Gate)
STARGATE ATLANTIS FANS were heartbroken when our beloved Dr. Carson Beckett was killed off. Carson died tragically in the line of duty in the third-season episode "Sunday" – but by the end of that year plans were already in the works to bring back the character and actor Paul McGillion. The result was Season 4's "The Kindred," a 2-part episode where Sheppard and his team discover a clone of Dr. Beckett.
It's a stunning final moment to Part 1 of the episode ... or at least it was MEANT to be stunning. The week before the episode aired, SCI FI Channel spoiled the whole thing by including the final scene in the teaser ad for the episode.
In this conversation with "Dial the Gate," ATLANTIS writer and executive producer Joseph Mallozzi remembers bringing Beckett back ... only to have the network blow the big reveal. He also talks about the Wraith hybrid Michael (played by Connor Trinneer), and the fourth season finale "The Last Man."
