Ever wonder why some people get what they want and others don't?
If you're one of the latter, it's time to stop wondering and start doing. And that means setting goals—specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound goals.
What are SMART goals? They're the acronym used by management consultants to help companies improve their performance by setting specific goals that allow them to measure whether they're on track. Are your goals specific? If not, take a step back and think about what you want to achieve and how. Are they measurable? If not, you need to be able to measure how well you're doing so that you can see if there's room for improvement. Are they achievable? If not, maybe this isn't something worth pursuing right now. Is it relevant? If not, consider whether there's another goal that might be more important at this moment in your life or career trajectory—or whether this goal could be achieved in smaller steps instead of all at once (which would make it more likely to happen). And finally: are these goals time-bound? If not, when do they need to happen by?
