📖 EPISODE 5 STORY: The team arrives at Santa Soledad convinced that Titan X known as Co-Cai is following a stable migratory course toward the Chilean coast. Apex led by Brenda has arrived first and is secretly preparing to fire a giant neural implant into Titan X using a drone — a plan to control the creature and eventually sell that technology to the highest bidder. Tim argues with Director Barris at Monarch who is being misled by Apex's false sonar signals. When Titan X passes directly alongside Outpost 18 in the ocean Barris finally believes Tim and sends Monarch to Santa Soledad. At the old abandoned Monarch Outpost 27 Keiko and Hiroshi finally reconcile — she tells him she always chose Bill and Hiroshi feels the weight of guilt finally lift. But when Apex launches their drone and fires the neural implant into Titan X the creature feels immense pain — pain that Cate can feel too because she is connected to it. The Scarabs erupt from the ground and tear off the infected tentacle freeing Co-Cai but also sending it into a destructive rage. Apex's camp is decimated. And in the chaos Hiroshi steps in front of Cate to protect her — taking a fatal hit from flying wreckage. With his last breath he apologizes to May and sings Furusato with Keiko as Kentaro arrives just too late to say goodbye.
