Automatic receipts help Square Sellers speed up the checkout process—and, if you’re the customer of a Square seller and you opt-in, automatic receipts help ensure you always have a digital record of a purchase.
The first time you use a payment card at a Square Seller, you are asked to enter your email address or phone number to receive a digital receipt. The contact information you provide is then paired with that particular card.
If you enter your email, the next time you use that same card with any Square Seller, you’ll automatically receive a digital receipt from their business.
You can unsubscribe from automatic receipts at any time.
To get started, locate any emailed receipt from Square, scroll to the bottom and select Turn off automatic receipts. You will no longer receive automatic email receipts from that business.
You can also manage your preferences from a Square profile associated with your email. Just scroll to the bottom of any emailed receipt and select Manage Preferences.
Enter your phone number or email address to receive a verification code, and enter your verification code to access your profile.
To opt out of automatic email receipts from all Square sellers, select your email address from the list of verified information, and toggle off the option to Receive automatic receipts.
Now you’ll stop receiving automatic email receipts from all Square sellers. To receive a one-time email receipt going forward, you’ll need to confirm your email address or phone number after each purchase.
Keep in mind, when you elect to receive a one-time receipt, you will not be re-enrolled to receive more automatic receipts.
To re-enroll, you’ll need to head back to your Square Profile at profile.square.com and toggle on the option to Receive automatic receipts.
Lastly, if you receive an email receipt that isn’t yours, it may be because your information is mistakenly paired with a payment card. This can happen if you share a card with someone you know, or, if someone you don’t know accidentally entered your info. Just click Not your receipt? at the bottom of the digital receipt to unlink your email address.
