This week Jannita and Shenae talk about the new special coating on all SILKY SAWS.
ELECTROLESS NICKEL PLATING
Silky Japan is now coating all saws with the same coating they use on nickels (coins). The new electroless nickel coating process allows the entire blade, even the teeth to be covered. (Silky's have the hard chrome plating on all the saws, however the teeth of the blade weren't covered in the coating). Find out why below:
Why? What is the benefit of changing the coating on the blade?
1. Nickel plating sticks to steel far better than chrome plating, which means that nickel plating lasts longer on the blades and gives better effect in terms of anti-rusting.
2. The layer of nickel plating is thinner than chrome plating, and this enabled Japan to cover the whole blade including teeth without spoiling the sharpness of the teeth. Chrome plating cannot cover the teeth part, because the thickness can spoil the teeth if we cover them by chrome plating.
This new coating over the Silky blade, provides superior wear and rust resistance for improved cutting performance and extended blade life.
